Annual Physical Exam
Routine physical examinations are the perfect time to make sure that your horse is doing well and that all questions concerning health, diet, hoof care, lameness are answered. During these examinations, Dr. Colladay will examine all body systems of your horse, including the respiratory, skeletal, and muscular systems, as well as the eyes, mouth, and skin. She will make sure that the horse does not have external parasites, skin problems, hoof problems, and that the animal’s heart and lungs sound healthy and clear. She will estimate weight, height, and age, and make sure that your horse is not overweight and at risk for metabolic diseases. Healthy horses can be given their annual vaccines during the annual physical examination. Additionally, blood can be drawn for elective or required blood tests.
